About The Film

A dark revenge drama short film, about the last resort.

Three anonymous strangers meet in a secret location to discuss the murders they committed for each other.

"A murder for a murder, that's how this works."

She grew up with an abusive step dad. She was done being a victim. She was done allowing her mother to be a victim. Out of desperation, she turned to her last and darkest option.

But justice isn't free. To get the help she needs she must dirty her hands for someone else.

"Have a problem you need taken care of? The Sunshine Murder Club has a vacancy."

This is a proof of concept short film, for a feature that is currently in development.

Director's Statement

This film hit closer to home than anything I've done. Without getting too much into the details, there is a lot of myself represented in it. But more than that, I feel like there are a lot of people for whom it will hit close to home. I feel like there are a lot of people who will relate to the characters in this film, in one way or another, and feel vilified through the actions of these characters. Making this film was cathartic for me. It brought me face to face some of the issues I have struggled with; and some of the issues I have witnessed loved ones struggle with. They say writing is its own therapy. I hope that this film can offer the same catharsis for anyone who needs it.

I'm also incredibly proud of the cast of this film. This was no easy task, I'm sure. They were given some heavy and dark material, and they dove in without hesitation or judgement, and gave some truly heartbreaking performances. During the editing process, I was driven to tears multiple times. The weight of a film like this is carried on the strength of the performances of the cast, and this cast dedicated themselves to taking this film where it needed to go.

JENNIFER GRIMES was born in Miami, FL. She attended Robert Morgan High School for the performing arts where she learned that she loved musical theater and dance.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida, she moved back to South FL where it was easier to visit family. Soon she relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she's pursuing film acting and producing.

Jennifer is known for very female led story-telling and loves a good underdog story. She is a huge advocate for mental health and self-acceptance.

ALBERIE RACHELE HANSEN was born and raised in Southern California. She started performing at the age of 5 when she started ice skating. The love of performing continued with dance and acting in school and church. She graduated Cum Laude from Cal State Fullerton, where she was able to study acting abroad. She started her film journey in 2016 with EAG production's short 'Who dunt dunt dunit?!' and her passion continues to grow. She loves strong female characters and won't say no to a good anti-hero.

Emotional pieces like Sunshine Murder Club allow the actors to dive deep into parts of themselves they can't always reach. It was a cathartic experience to live out this story and I hope the audience gets a similar feeling.
